I keep hearing about this. WTF is rape culture?

2 Name: Anonymous : 2017-03-07 21:08

It's a theory that many rapes occur not because people don't realize raping people is wrong", but because they have a poor understanding of sexual consent and don't realize that their actions are a form of rape. An extreme example of this would be someone saying it's okay to fuck an unconscious person, because they're not exactly saying no", but it also covers basically any case of someone thinking an action or circumstance makes them ``entitled" to sexual activity with a specific other person.

Of course if you believe that you can only have consent by a strict verbal "yes" then you'd be wrong. Maybe not wrong in the legal sense though.

Isn't people/groups trivializing (actual) rape also part of it (a la colleges covering up rapes by varsity athletes)? It feels like I've mostly heard the term used in relations to such events.

Rape is trivial. That is why people who are not told that rape is a magic spell that stole their ability to be happy can be raped and then jitterbugging the next night. Check countries where fat feminists don't have a voice, ie. some parts of Africa, and there you will see people getting raped as normal but not needing high-priced therapy or support group. Wake up, rape is a scam.

Pretending that rape is bad, literally comparing it to murder, is a tool to take money from hard working whites and funnel it into fat lazy dykes who run "support groups" that tell rape "victims" that their life is over.

Rape is at least morally wrong.

Are you of the opinion that rape is not bad?

Lmao. Parts of Africa where rape is a part of life, and the people accept it but may not like it.

I wouldn't exactly consider Africa the finest comparison to North America, consider the extremely crippling poverty and lack of education.

It's not good, because getting physically assaulted can lead to serious permanent damage. But comparing rape to murder or trying to hook people into years of therapy to "recover" from rape is just ridiculous. A rape victim is just a victim of assault, the seriousness of the assault should determine punishment, etc. not the sexual nature of it.

Legal systems in the West currently try to brainwash so-called "rape-victims" into believing that rape is somehow worse than common assault, that it damages your mind somehow. But this is just scammers playing on the puritan attitudes, creating a fake industry of tax-payer funded "support groups".

Not all of the USA is dealing with extremely crippling poverty and lack of education, just the parts with the African immigrants.

Your reaction to a given situation can be more damaging, mentally that is, than the situation itself. It wouldn't be too far of a step to say that the whole Western aversion to sex or nudity contributes to people's perception of rape. Although it's not 100% the reason behind the therapy.
